Helmikuisilta lankamessuilta mukaan tarttui, kuopuksen valitsemana, todellista hattaralankaa. Pinkki ja kimalteleva lanka vaati seurakseen neutraalimpaa paria ja mallikseen jotain simppeliä ja mutta kuitenkin romanttista. Kuluneen sanonnan mukaan, siitä se ajatus sitten lähti...
Back in February my youngest one chose rather pink and sparkly yarn for her new sweater. All this glitter needed to be toned down with a neutral colour and simple pattern but at the same time the sweetness of the yarn needed to be maintained.
Nyt sitten ollaan tässä. Huhtikuussa lähti testauspyynti maailmalle, ja pari tuntia sitten sain ohjeen putkautettua yleiseen jakoon. Hui ja iik! Uskomatonta kuinka onnistuin luomaan todeksi sen, mikä oli alunperin vain minun päässäni, ja mikä vielä uskomattomampaa, onnistuin myös kirjoittamaan ohjeen muille. Mikäli testineulojia on uskominen, niin ohje on jopa ymmärrettävä.
After knitting tunics for both my daughters it was time to leave the needles and start with typing. After several days of writing and re-writing, the pattern was finally ready to be posted and the call for the test-knitters was made. Now, almost almost two months later, testing is finished and the pattern is out. It's amazing how I managed to create something exactly as I imagined it. And to make it even more amazing, other people have managed to follow my instructions and knit their own Hattaras. Did I say it was amazing?
Hattara neulotaan ylhäältä alas saumattomasti. Yläselän pitsikuvio neulotaan intarsiana (on muuten helpompaa kuin kuvittelisi; huomattavasti kirjoneuletta helpompaa); hartioiden muotoilu ihan raglan-lisäyksillä. Hihojen erottamisen jälkeen vartalo yhdistetään ja helma neulotaan pyörönä. Saumojen ompelua inhoan joten tässä tunikassa kaikki on mahdollisimman saumatonta, ainoastaan (vapaaehtoinen) tasku täytyy ommella sivuistaa kiinni helmaan.
Hattara is knitted seamlessly from top down. The upper body is worked flat with shoulders shaped with raglan increases; after separating the sleeves from the body the tunic is joined to knit on the round. After finishing the body the sleeve stitches are picked up again and the sleeves are knitted in the round down to the cuffs. To finish the buttonbands are knitted and the neck is finished with i-cord finishing. The last thing to knit, and the only thing to sew, is the pocket.
